Preparing a Manuscript for Journal Submission

Tips for preparing a manuscript for journal submission

  1. Decide which type of article to write (e.g., research article, brief communications, etc.)
  2. Choose a target journal before starting to write so you can prepare your manuscript to that journal's specifications.
  3. Pay close attention to the journal's 'Instructions for Authors' page to ensure proper article structure, word count, number of figures/tables, formatting, etc.
  4. Get feedback on your manuscript from colleagues before submitting
  5. Compose a brief cover letter to the editor to explain how your manuscript adds to existing literature and would be a good fit to their journal.
