Youcheng Liu, MD MPH

Dr. Youcheng Liu is an Associate Professor at Wayne State University School of Medicine and College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He trained in medicine and public health with specialties in industrial hygiene, environmental and occupational health, and epidemiology. His research focuses on assessing occupational and environmental exposures to chemical hazards and biological agents, evaluating the resultant health outcomes (asthma, COPD, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and others) and identifying effective and feasible measures and strategies to reduce exposures and prevent diseases.

Current research projects include dermal exposure to nicotine in migrant tobacco farm workers in Kentucky and the development of a barrier cream and other intervention methods to reduce exposure and green tobacco sickness, isocyanate exposure in neonates, identification of user barriers of powered air-purifying respirators (PAPRs) and clinical trials on effectiveness of training and fit testing on elastomeric half-mask respirators in health care workers.
