
Dr. Preethy Sarah Samuel is an Associate Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Wayne State University’s Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and a Faculty Affiliate of the Michigan Developmental Disabilities Institute (UCEDD). She earned her Ph.D. in Sociology from Wayne State University, a Master of Occupational Therapy degree from Loma Linda University, and a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy degree from Christian Medical College.
Dr. Samuel’s research focuses on quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities and chronic health conditions, family caregiving, patient-centered outcomes measurement, and improving outcomes for underserved populations. A nationally registered occupational therapist, she combines clinical, research, and teaching expertise to advance inclusive and community-centered care. She is a Fellow of the Michigan Occupational Therapy Association and has received multiple awards recognizing her scholarship and service.
